FAQ

Questions worth asking before a trailer arrives on your driveway.

If anything here is uncertain at your property, send photos with your enquiry. Access details are easier to solve early.

How long is the minimum hire?

The standard minimum hire is 2 weeks. Most kitchen renovations run for 4–8 weeks, so tell us your likely start and finish dates and we will quote around the real project.

What if my nearest socket is more than 25 metres from where the trailer would sit?

Tell us before we quote. The trailer is designed around power, water and waste being within 25 metres. If one is further away, we may still be able to work out a safe setup, but it needs checking first.

Do I need planning permission?

For a temporary trailer on private residential land, planning permission is not usually expected, but restrictions can depend on lease terms, covenants, conservation areas or local rules. You are responsible for having the right to site it there.

What happens if I damage something during the hire?

The trailer is checked at delivery and collection. Damage beyond fair wear and tear can be deducted from the refundable Security Deposit. A Damage Waiver option is available for quotes — see the pricing page for details.

Can pets use the trailer?

Pets may be possible if declared before booking and noted in the Hire Agreement. Tell us what pets you have so cleaning and condition expectations are clear from the start.

Can I get a quote before paying anything?

Yes. Send the enquiry details first. If the site looks suitable and the dates are available, we quote before asking for a booking deposit.

Do you cover my postcode?

Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend and Swansea are the core South Wales area. We can quote further afield depending on distance, access and hire length.

What if the renovation overruns?

Contact us as soon as your builder flags a delay. Extensions are subject to availability and charged at the agreed extension rate in the Hire Agreement.

Is the gas safe?

The hob runs from a gas bottle. The first bottle is included, replacements are chargeable, and the gas installation is commissioned and certified by a Gas-Safe-registered engineer before first hire.

How do you handle delivery if my driveway is tight?

We ask for access notes and photos before delivery. Gates, narrow lanes, low overhangs, kerb height, slope and parked cars all matter. If access is materially different on the day, delivery may need to be rearranged.

What size is the trailer?

Approximately 4.5 m long, 2.1 m wide and 2.6 m high. It weighs around 1,200 kg and is towed into position — no crane needed. Your driveway needs at least 5 m × 2.5 m of clear, level space.

Can it run from a standard 13A socket?

Yes. The trailer is designed for a standard domestic 13A socket. All appliances are low-demand: induction hob, combi oven, fridge, washing machine and LED lighting. We supply a 25-metre cable rated for outdoor use.

Where does the grey water go?

The sink drains through a 25-metre hose to an outdoor drain, gully or rainwater pipe. We supply the hose and fittings. If your drain is more than 25 metres away, tell us before quoting.

Can it be used in winter?

Yes. The trailer is insulated and has a small electric heater. Winter hires are common and the kitchen stays comfortable down to typical UK winter temperatures.

Can my builders use it during the day?

The trailer is for your household use, but if your builder needs a kettle or microwave that is usually fine. We ask that heavy trade use — cutting, sanding, mixing — happens outside the trailer to protect the interior.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as you know your dates. Summer months and the run-up to Christmas book up fastest. A month ahead is sensible; two months is ideal. We can sometimes accommodate shorter notice if a slot opens up.

What deposit is required?

We ask for a 25% deposit to confirm the booking, with the balance due 7 days before delivery. The deposit is refundable if you cancel more than 14 days before the start date.

What is the Damage Waiver?

The Damage Waiver is an optional add-on that covers accidental damage to the trailer interior and fittings up to £2,000. Without it, you are liable for the full cost of repair or replacement. It is priced per week and can be added at booking or decided later.
